Objective : TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF EVERY INDIAN
It is not a coincidence that Indian students enjoy studying in foreign universities far more than they do at home.
The reason is simple. The Indian education system is orthodox. It follows the traditional principle of “fundamental education”, which is “education for knowledge and for knowledge alone”! Simply stated, “fundamental knowledge” is theory. And it stops there.
The developed world has changed their education system decades ago. They follow a system of imparting “applied education” or “applied knowledge”.
Now, that is a significantly different thing!
Applied education is application of knowledge. Application of knowledge is application of theory to real life situations. It is not only interesting but it relates to the real world. Therefore applied knowledge produces people who are practical and are straightaway productive in businesses and elsewhere.
In India, some engineering colleges and management institutes offer “industry oriented” courses. This is a localized effort to offer “applied education” in place of fundamental education.
This Manifesto recommends that our education system provide applied knowledge in schools and colleges. The entire system shall then produce students who are ready to apply knowledge to real life situations. They shall also be “globally synchronized” in practice.
And we shall not have the sad anomaly of the “educated unemployed” in India.
1 Clean up and beautify our Universities, Colleges and Schools.
2 Encourage NGOs to set up primary schools in every village and town. Every child in India - including street children - should be in school during the day. Law should enforce this. Wholesome “Mid day meal” to be provided free in these schools.
3 Set up as many “Teacher Training Centres” as possible. Teachers should be trained to impart “applied knowledge”.
4 Modernize and expand every Industrial Training Institute in India. Ask for direct Industry participation. Industry would love to adopt these ITIs.
5 Start a national debate to consider allowing foreign funded schools in India on a large scale.
6 Every state in India - from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat; and from J&K to Kerala, should have a fully funded, international level Sports Academy
7 Similarly, every state should have an Academy for Creative and Performing Arts offering the highest level of training
